cannot send out mail

Do you get an error message when you try to send? If yes, right-click on the
error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

If no error message, open the Outbox folder. Move as many of the Outbox
messages as you can to he Drafts folder. If any won't move or can't be deleted,
apply this Microsoft fix:

You don't provide a lot of details required to help you!
What is the exact error message you get when you try to send?
Who is your ISP?
Most likely you have the out-going mail server setup screwed up.

Unless you tell us, we have no way of knowing what "installed everything"
includes.

Windows mail is now my 3rd party. I don't want windows mail period.
I want all mail to send and receive using my charter mail system.
I'm told by charter to reconfigure this account to -
incoming: POP.charter.net port 425
outgoing: SMTP.charter.net port 110.
Can I do this myself?

I now receive all mail in both windows mail & charter
I can send from charter, but not from windows
When I do send from windows this is the message I get

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Lucy the waterbaby Video', Account: 'POP.charter.net',

You appear to have the correct port numbers already:
pop.charter.net: 110
smtp.charter.net: 25

When you got that error message, were you sending from home, or
using a laptop away from home?

Which antivirus are you using?

Suggest you check the messages in your outbox and transfer them to another
folder. Then try and send each one individually until you find one that will
not go out.

Just delete that message and I think you'll be okay. I've found any message
that I send to multiple recipients and one address is wrong, it will not
allow
that message to be sent nor any subsequent messages..

Your error message pertains to receiving, not sending.
That type of error is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off your antivirus email scanning function does not resolve
your problem, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it
is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus
programs: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If you have a separate send error, please post it.

This is very likely due to the size of the message attachments. What is its
size, and what are the limits of both your mail system and the receiving
mail system?

Mail is really not an appropriate medium for transferring large file sets.
Use webspace, or FTP, or anything else. We've had great luck with

To get control of the outbox, you may have to physically disconnect from the
network to go offline.

At the time you got that error message was your Internet connection
being obtained from WMIS? Or were you on a laptop away from home?
