I am getting the below error message:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR not supported c14pf8391161ana.72', Port: 995, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Can somebody help me?

Easy fix. Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

P

I have done that and I get the login box which will not except any of my
passwords and this error message appears:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port:
995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC17

For gmail access in Windows Mail, see all the settings,

Did you enable POP access on the gmail account at the website?

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=86382

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=86383

If all your settings appear correct, then the account could have become
corrupt?

Start again, remove the gmail account and set it up again with the above
settings.

It appears that you had more than one thing wrong.
You can test your password by logging in to webmail:
If that works, it proves you have the correct username and password.
One possible reason for it failing in WM is account corruption.
One thing you should try as a quick fix is to delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

And how to I find out what Anitvirus I am using. I have webroot spy sweeper
but I don't know if that is it.

G

Gary VanderMolen

I understand Webroot Spy Sweeper does include an antivirus
module. Be sure to go through all its settings and disable any that
interact with email. I can't give you specific steps because I don't have
that program.

I did delete and when I went to add I got all the way through the process and
get this error message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

P

peroy

When I corrected the the ports I am getting this message:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.', Port: 995,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
I have even reset password and still nothing.

G

Gary VanderMolen

That sure looks like antivirus program interference.
I suggest you uninstall Webroot Spy Sweeper as a test to see if that
makes a difference.

I just got back from vacation and am trying to get this fixed still. I have
deleted Webroot and it did not change anything. I have set up Windows Live
Mail and would like to be able to use it like I did with Windows Mail. I am
trying to get my ISP email accout to forward to Windows Live Mail and do not
know how to do it. Can someone assist and is there a way to fix my Windows
Mail?

OK, you really should have this sorted by now, you did not respond to my
message on the 12th June.

Did the account EVER work?

For gmail access in Windows Mail, see all the settings,

!!!!!!!!!! Did you enable POP access on the gmail account at the gmail
website? !!!!!!!!!

http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=86383

Regarding WLM and WM accessing the same account, you need to set both
programs to leave a copy of your mail on the server, so that both programs
can download the messages. Tools>accounts>select your ISP
account>properties>advanced tab>select leave a copy of messages on the
server>apply OK.

Please respond with any error messages that you are now getting?

The only reason I did not respond sooner was that I went out of town. I have
enabled POP but am still getting this message:
Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.', Port: 995,
