Cannot Open Outlook Data File

I am having a problem in opening my Outlook Data File for Outlook 2003.

You can import a pst file into outlook but you cannot import a data file
that has a nk2 extension.

My problem is that my backup copy contains an nk2 file extension instead of
a pst extension. How can I get Outlook to open that data file?

The NK2 file is NOT a backup of anything and is unrelated to your PST. It
is the autocompletion cache. You copied the wrong file.

Are you sure the *.nk2 file is a legitimate .pst file? If so, then change the
extension. Instead of importing, use File > Open and browse to your .pst
file.
Note that the default .pst file name is outlook.pst unless it has been
renamed to something else. There is also an archive.pst which contains the
items that Outlook has archived.
Another thing to bear in mind is that if your PST is not on the local disk,
for example if it's on a memory stick or CD, it won't open. Outlook requires
constant read/write access to the PST. If this is the case, copy it to the
local harddrive and mark it read only.
If you have any questions or issues, please post back. Good luck!
