Cannot open https sites

P

Peter Brause

Hello,
I have Windows XP Home mit SP 1 and IE 6 with 128bit encryption, SP1 and
Q330994 update. With IE 6 I can't open secure sites (https:// ...) , and the
automatic Windows update fails ("INF installation failed."). I've tried it
with "low" security settings in IE 6, but nothing goes.
TIA
Peter
[BTW, Opera opens the secure sites, but this doesn't help with automatic
updates.]

Windows Update Fails:
Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.
