cannot open Control Panel

Hi
Whilst trying to open Control Panel, I get the following error message and
cannot open Control Panel:-

Invalid Parameter (SM_RC_EINVAL)(11)

Cannot anyone help please?

If this just recently occured try doing a system restore to an earlier time.

Hi,
It is a friends machine and I believe it has been happening for some time..
Having just installed all the security patches, if I do a system restore,
will I then need to re-install all the patches again?

Go to search and search for files with the .cpl extension. eg in your search
type *.cpl try double clicking the these files to see if it lets you get
into the individual items in the control panel. If it doesn't let you, it
means the control panel is corrupt. I am not sure how to fix this although
if you search the knowledge base you should find an answer.
