Formatting large HDD problem

Hi
I have windows XP Pro on a machine and fitted a 285 gig HDD but it will only
format at 128 gig.

Can anyone please advice how to get Windows XP Pro to recognise a larger
drive?

Your hardware needs to be able to handle this. Check your motherboard
manual and/or the mfr's. website. If the current BIOS can't do it,
perhaps there is a BIOS update. If not, you'll need to get a pci
controller card.
