Migrating an XP Pro installation from one hard drive to another -

I have XP Pro installed on a 18 Gig HDD and I want to migrate the
installation - NOT do a clean install as I have too much set up - to a larger
hard disk.
(Note, my XP is the retail version)

In Pre XP days, this was easy, ie
- connect the new hdd as drive D
- use explorer to copy all including the hidden/system files (Except the
windows swapfile) to the new drive
- Reboot to just the DOS prompt
- Type SYS d: to copy the system files across
- Disconnect the original hdd, boot up the new drive (now as C:) - and all
done!

I suspect however that in XP days it's not not so simple - eg how to set up
the new drive as NTSF? plus can you actually copy the files across as above -
will it work?

Having said that , I'm sure this is a common need, so maybe there is an
authentic procedure somewhere for doing this?

Can anyone help?

Many Thanks.

Use the disk clone facility that your disk manufacturer makes
available on his home site.
