i cannot access control panel, any suggestions ?
Yes. Give more info about what happens when you try. XP Home or Pro? Work
computer or home? What kind of account - limited or administrator? Any
error messages? Any information in Event Viewer?
If this is a work computer, accessing Control Panel may be restricted by
the network administrator.
If it's a home computer, be sure to check for spyware and to scan the
system with an up to date antivirus program. A lot of nasties block access
to control panel in an attempt to make it more difficult to remove them.
Also, try creating a new user account. Log on with it to see if you can
access Control Panel or not. Sometimes a user account becomes corrupt and
lots of things don't work right. If this works, copy your data over and
switch to using the new user account.
