Hi please help,

I have been having trouble with my windows xp home edition for a while now,
at the moment i cannot even open my computer or control panel! when i click
them it goes to load then freezes. (sometimes it will then refresh the page
itself and it will then unfreeze) Obviously without these two things i
cannot do anything on my pc including contacting an expert to help (because i
need my product id number which is in control panel)

I have tried things such as system restore - to no avail

Please help

Your computer has been compromised with spyware/adware/scumware and possibly
worms/viruses
Solution
1. Make sure you have an up-to-date antivirus program installed with up
to-date definitions.
Reboot computer in safe mode,, keep hitting F8 whilst booting up. Go to safe
mode, when in safe mode, Right click on start go to explore all users,
right click 'my computer' go to properties go to system restore and switch
'off' .
Now run your antivirus program and follow the instructions, when finished
reboot your computer and go back to 'my computer/properties/system restore
and turn 'on '

2. Go to Microsoft site download and install anti spyware
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en
go to updates when installed and then run a scan, follow instructions.

3. Next download
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10319876.html?tag=pop
install this program no need to touch the setting as it is defaulted. Go to
updates and download the current definitions. Now do a full scan and follow
instructions.

There are several more products for you to download and scan, but for now
please follow the above advice, and post your result back here so that we
can see how your computer is working before we recommend the next stage.
