fix
the damn thing for me??? lol...let me remove them..brb! =D

Seeing as you are someplace on the West Coast of the US? Very unlikely :)
(I am in the UK).

Get AVG Free to replace them:
http://free.grisoft.com/

When you install AVG, part way into the install you will see an option for
"custom" Install, use that, then disable the mail scan feature.

You may have to remove/rebuild your account once more.

Wellll...did all that, and still the same problem..... =(

That took a while :)

I am out of ideas for now, someone else might be along who can help?

In the meantime get Windows Live Mail http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview
download and install

It will import all your mail and accounts etc from WM during install.

Let us know if you can send & receive mail from WLM.

Best of Luck.

I have the same problem when I started using Windows Mail few days ago with a
new laptop with Vista. No problem with previous PC with XP.
The error message I've got was "The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'Singnet', Server: 'pop.singnet.com.sg', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E".

Looks like all of us are looking for the same answer?

Oops, I don't know how that blank post got out.

That type of problem is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

I am suddenly having the same problems with my pop3 accounts, both from my
ISP provider and GMail. I get this error
Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
complete Error Message is :
Account: 'pop.west.cox.net', Server: 'pop.west.cox.net', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I am using AVG anti-virus, I have checked the accounts & passwords on line,
I have deleted the accounts and re-established the Windows Mail accounts.
Another user on the same laptop can still access and send email. Email has
been working for about 16 months without problems, stop on April 27, 2010; no
changes were made around that time.

Since you have tested the passwords via webmail access, the problem
is elsewhere. I suspect that your AVG antivirus may be interfering.
Your AVG antivirus was probably installed with its default install option,
which installs an email scanning module. Just disabling its email scanning
is not a sufficient remedy. Uninstall AVG, then reinstall, but select 'custom'
install, which then allows you to unselect installing its troublesome email
scanning module.
