Cannot create a scrap in Word

Can someone tell me why I cannot create scrap in MS Word as described in the
link below? I use Word 2003. I've seen a video tutorial of someone doing it
in 2003, so I it's not a matter of it just being a 2007 feature.

How are you going about it? Just select the text then holddown the left
mousebutton while the mouse pointer is in the selected text and drag it onto
the clipboard.

That's what I'm doing but it isn't working. But it's not onto the clipboard
that you drag the selected text but onto the desktop. Does my having Vista
Basic have anything to do with it?

Yes. I don't believe you can create Scraps in Vista.
