Cannot copy hid.dll during setup XPPro

Rock

I am trying to set up XP Pro and I get this message about 30% into the
set up.

setup cannot copy the file hid.dll

What is this file ? Is it necessary? What should I do?

Thanks

Hi,

"hid" = Human Interface Device, a "dll" is a dynamic link library file.

Necessary? I'd say "yes" if you plan on interacting with your computer.

What to do? How are you installing? Is this an upgrade? Have you disabled
your antivirus software? Is this a clean install? Have you disable any BIOS
level antivirus?

Hi,

This is a clean new full install on a clean formatted drive. No software
at all. No anti virus was disabled in bios as I have never had to do
that before.

I have since loaded software which all seems to work fine except
occassionally I am getting a 'Recovered from a Serious Error' message
panel.

On a search the hid.dll file was only seen here..

Windows/DriverCasche/I386/driver.cab

I can see it in another box in windows/system32.

Is there a way to just get it there?

Thanks,

Rock
