cannot close a PST file

I am unable to close a PST file in Outlook 2000. When I
right-click on the personal folder item and left-click
on "close personal folder" I get the following error. "The
operation failed - cannot find an object".

The only way to get rid of such erronous entries is to recreate your mail
profile in control panel/mail. Sometimes after deleting a service, some of
the entries remain in the registry (and this is too complex to manually
delete entries from there).
