Windows XP SP2. Just installed Outlook 2003. Have eight contact lists all
linked under Contacts. When composing email, have to enter full email of
contact each time - Outlook won't link to contacts to offer me "suggestions"
after I start typing name of contact

Explain what you mean by a "contact list." Could be anything.
If they are separate Contact Folders, did you enable them to appear in the
Outlook Address Book in their properties?

Outlook doesn't "link to contacts" when you begin typing in the To field.
It never has. Outlook Express would do that. WHat Outlook does is remember
addresses you've used before and it will suggest those when you start
typing, if you've enabled autocompletion.

Hi Russ. Contact list is exactly that - seperate folders which have been
sub-divided geographically of my contacts and all in expandable Contacts
folder under Folder List. I've enabled them to appear in Outlook Address Book
and now at least I can see them. When I click "To" in new email, the "Select
Names" window comes up and I can select who I want from the appropriate
folder. But it still won't give me the options if I try a short name tag
direct into the "To" field in new email. My laptop has same OS and Office
2003 and has never given this problem.

Errm - yes it does. I have XP Sp3 and Office 2003 Pro on my laptop and I
only have to type in short name tag and the options appear. Where do I find
autocompletion?
