Cannot Access shared folders

I have 2 PCs "A" and "B" both having XP Pro connected via NIC. A is
connected directly to internet via ADSL modem and B connects to the internet
through A. I can access the internet on both however I am unable to access
any shared folders/drives on any PC. On trying to access workgroup computers
in "My Network Places" gives an error : Workgroup is not accessible......
The list of servers for this workgroup is not available.

Both have the same Wrokgroup. SFS has been disabled on both PC's and Classic
users authenticate as themselves in the Local Security Policy.

I can ping A from B but I cannot ping B from A.Is there any step that I
might be missing?

Asymmetrical ping is quite likely a firewall problem, or maybe a name resolution
problem. What's the exact text of the ping error?

The exact text when I ping from A to B:

Pinging 192.168.0.2 with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out
Request timed out
Request timed out

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.2:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)

However on pinging from B to A shows TTL=128 with 0%loss of packets.

When you get "Request timed out", and assuming that "192.168.0.2" is the valid
ip address, you've most probably got a firewall problem.

I have configured the firewall..... But now, the other computer is not
visible in My Network Places. I can ping each computer from the other. SFS
is disabled and the Local Security Policy is set to classic for Network
access.

Panchi,

OK, now you have a browser problem. The browser provides the content in My
Network Places.

Actually, the problem was with the firewall itself. After having it
configured properly, I restarted and changed the settings accidentally due
to which the PCs weren't showing up on the Network Places. So, in the end I
didn't use the browstat utility. However I had been through the links you
provided just for my information.
