Can remove VX2 and Cool Web Search

Used Windows defender beta 2 to try and remove VX2 and a varient of Cool Web
Search and the program application crashes every time.

Used Spybot S&D to finish cleaning the system. Found 120 items that
Windwos defender missed. Was able to completely remove and clean up the
remaining exploits on the system.

were there any log entries or error messages associated with the crashes?

Did you try in safe mode by any chance?

If there were I have no way to get at them now. Sorry... Client has machine
back now. Will try and grab them if i run across this again.

Exploits were already on the machine. Installed beta 2 on an infected
machine.
The application detected the exploits. Clicked on Remove All and beta 2
crashed and the xp system rebooted on its own. Ouch.

Did not try beta 2 in safe mode at all. From all the systems I have cleaned
VX2
is a pain to remove. Because the MS application is in beta, I figured
things were still being worked on for VX2 and moved on to another utility.

I've got a dirty machine that Beta2 says is clean, too--so I know there are
things they can't do yet.

If you hit that again, you might filter the system event log on source
WinDefend, and capture the relevant detection entries--or see if there are
entries around the crash that may give clues. If you send in OCA crash
reports, the developers will get them, and are definitely interested.
