UMonitor, VX2 and a unified solution?

I hope that the final version will not require that I
continue to run 4 other spyware programs in order to
detect most infections. I've been hit with a VX2 "attack"
and like many other folks I've read about in news groups,
I've run AdAware, TrendMicro, CWShredder, SPYBOT, Panda,
Norton 2005 w/Spyware support (that is a useless joke) and
now MS. Each one detects spyware items that the others
did not, and NONE of them seems to be able to remove the
VX2 problem for good (MS identified it and said it deleted
it, but I keep getting various errors on startup (all
similar-can't run xxxxxx.dll, UMonitor), and repeat scans
keep showing more VX2 problems. I have not visited any
web sites other than MS, Google and the few spyware
manufacturers noted above, so reinfection shouldn't be the
problem.

Since this is Beta, I'm gonna' cut MS some slack, but come
on Microsoft-let's get this one right! It's clear that
users need a unified approach to defeat this nasty enemy.

I could not agree more. We really don't need yet another anti-spyware
product that has a cool UI, flexible scans, downloadable updates, plays
a sound when it's done scanning - removes 14 trojans and 45 marketing
cookies with a lot of fanfare, but leaves VX2, CooolWebSearch and a
couple of browser toolbars untouched - has a user forum where you can
endlessly post HijackThis logs, and get a reply suggesting you try all
the other anti-spyware products.

I have 4 of those already.

Add one more to the list:
When I run everything, I just started 12 month
subscription to CA's PestPatrol.

What to like: Every item scanned can be (usually)
clicked on to go back to CA's web site and tells you how
bad the items is [This is something I wish Microsoft
TaskManager would do!]. It also scans very deep --
looking in System Volume Information, etc. Most tools
didn't do that (AdAware, etc). Will check if new MSFT
beta does that.

What to watch: It identifies' Commercial software as
that, but also as a threat that will be deleted if you
don't review and just select all to delete/quarantine.
VNC is example of something that it likes to delete.

The particular VX2 variant that you cite is extremely difficult to
remove. It would be best if you went to a reputable spyware forum for
assistance with this.

Please read the guidelines of the one you choose prior to posting
