Can not open newsgroups attached photos

O

Odisseus

I have Vista and of course the viewer as Windows Photo Gallery.
Suddenly and without any apparent reason I can not open pictures attached to
newsgroup messages with Windows Photo Gallery.
The photo is visible in the body of the message, is saved where I want but
when I try to view it the Windows Photo Gallery tells me this:
"Could not find file xxx.jpg verify that the file name is correct and try
again"
Of course the file name is correct but no way.
What can I do to fix this?
Thank you.

Right-click on a JPG already saved to your computer | Open with | select
appropriate application & check the "Always open with..." box.

Done but no way, any other suggestion?

Delete the Temporary Internet Files in IE (Tools | Options | Delete files)
and then reboot and see if that fixes it.

Done but no result as expected: IE has nothing to do with Windows Mail!

That is not exactly true. WinMail uses many functions in IE's dlls and also
relies on the Temporary Internet Files for temporary storage.
