Can not get MIDI files to play with WMP 10, No MS SW synth

I have software(Macgamut) that needs MIDI software to work, other than
quicktime. I can only get MIDI to play with quicktime, but this is not
effiecent. I searched online/MS website to download Microsofts MIDI software,
but can't find it. I need to get this to work and I have tried everything.

Open WMP and in the top toolbar click Tools>Options>File Types tab.
Now check if Mid is checked and check it>Apply>OK

Yes, I have done that, but that just get the WMP to play the MIDI file. When,
WMP plays them no sound is produced.

What version of WMP are you using? You must have version 10, right?
Do NOT delete your old version, WMP is designed to reinstall overtop of
itself.
