Can not drag and drop jepeg file in Powerpoint

I was working with PowerPoint, and had been using drag and drop to drop jepeg
files from Windows Explorer into PowerPoint.

I had several programs open also, and the computer started to get slow, so I
closed all of them except PPT and Windows Explorer.

But now I can't drag and drop files anymore. When I try to drag and drop
into PowerPoint, it creates a link.

I restarted the computer and PowerPoint, and still can not do it.

Rather than using drag and drop, I strongly recommend you use Insert-->
Picture from file to add your pictures to your presentation. It reduces the
file size and makes life much easier. (Just a guess, but the file size
increase is probably why your system got slow.)

Thanks for the advice on using "Insert". I know that drag and drop makes the
files much bigger. I often use the "Insert" method. But I still want to be
able to drag and drop sometimes. How come I can not use it now? I had been
using it all along, but now something happened that will not let me do it.
How can I get the function back to let me drag and drop? Is there a registry
entry, an option somewhere, or what?

Thanks for the help.

Yes! I don't know why it worked but I cleared the Internet temp folder, then
I tried to drag and drop into PowerPoint. It worked! Thanks a bunch!

I guess I'm glad that the problem's sorted out but now that you're able to do it in
(what's usually) entirely the wrong way, can you explain why you'd want to? ;-)

Or to put it a bit differently, have you looked at the difference in file sizes
that results from drag/dropping a JPG vs Insert, Picture, From File to get the same
effect?
