"Can not create the Item"...

Windows XP
Outlook 2000

When clicking on an email link in Internet Explorer, Outlook should
lauch an email to compose the email.. Instead, the error "can not
create the item" appears. I tried:
-Repairing Outlook
-Deleting the form file as prescribed here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;267807&Product=out2K
-Set email program to "outlook" in "internet options"
-tried upgrading to IE 6 sp1...

Any idea what else I can try to eliminate this error? Thanks...

Ehm, TRIED upgrading to IE 6 SP1? Were you not succesful in doing this for
some reason? Solving this issue could very well resolve your issue as well.
