Can not connect to my D-Link router DI-707p at 192.168.0.1

This is the address of my D-link DI-707P router, and I can not connect to
it.

I cannot connect to this one specific address, I've deleted
cookies/history/
etc and still I can go anywhere on the WEB but the ONE address I need to
connect to? I get the User and password prompt but no further.

I am running XP SP2 and untill the other day it was working well. I had some
malware and since running a number of cleaning apps, have been no longer
able to connect.

I can connect from any of the other 3 PC's on my local lan, but not from my
PC... I
do have a VM installed and from that I can connect. So I have assumed it
must be a networking problem on my PC and install.

Reinstalled IE 6 as well as SP2 along with some windscock fixes, but still
no joy. I do have the Windows fire wall installed as well as BlackIce and
have disabled them both while trouble shooting, but no change.

There is the odd time where I get some of the pics and graphics displayed
when trying to connect to 192.168.0.1 "opening page http://192.168.0.1/ ...
"but it is so slow that even after 10 minutes it is not there and the
embedded links do not appear to have loaded.

A am also able to ping the router with no problem.

Any suggestions ?

Those things require JavaScript and probably even Java Applets to function.
Your IE's security settings may be too restrictive.

Mark,

please use http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm to solve this
problem. My first guess would be that you only have to delete
the temporary Internet files, but a Winsock repair may also be
required. Details in web page.

I think you have a virus. This specific virus is NOT detected by any
Anti-Virus program that I know of.

I have seen this behaviour before at one of my customers. I was unable to
find the specific problem, and re-formatted the Boot drive, re-installed all
software to restore normal behaviour.

The single machine on the LAN that was used to manage a DLink DI-604 was
'hijacked' by background process that I was unable to find. That background
process 'sleeps' whenever the keyboard or mouse is active, but about 15
minutes after the last mouse/keyboard activity ends this process contacts
one of a long list of unkown servers in the USA ... downloads a list of
target email addresses and then sends out what appears to be SPAM email
messages using the SMTP server defined (Dlink requires that this server be
an OPEN RELAY) on the DI-604 to be used to forward the Log files by email.

I'm pretty sure that your PC is 're-directing' all the http traffic from
that specific IP address ... probably an un-intended consequence of the
virus infection.

If you can find the specific problem please post what you find.

sure if they issued a fix for it or not.

Even though I uninstalled and tried many tricks - still no fix, then I had a
thought ..........

Slipstreamed SP2 and did a "Upgrade" thus what ever the error setting /
dll/ reg / etc was, i do not know BUT my problem is now resolved.

Well, after much heart ache Solved the problem, and it was not spy ware..
but a Macromedia Flash plugin ??? Twice now I have been to sites that
require Macromedia Flash 10 and if I do, then I can not connect to my D-Link
707P router. Uninstall and ALL is fine.

More work required and then a post to D-Link

Glad to hear you made some progress.

Do you know where you downloaded the troublesome Flash plugin from?
