Can not access Windoes Media Player, Some Functions of IE 6.0

I have recently incurred a problem in Windows XP with Windows Media Player 9,
and Internet Explorer 6.0 (IE). I can open IE, and the start page will
appear. I can move around to various websites, but not all of the functions
will work. Most notably, if I click on the "hotmail" button at MSN.com the
browser will go to a solid white page and stop. I can follow other
hyperlinks to hotmail in IE, but then will be unable to open messages, delete
messages, or navigate the web from that point.

Furthermore, Windows Media Player fails to open now. When prompted, an
error message appears... "Internal Application Error." I have gone to the
control panel, selected the area to the right to modify windows functions and
removed IE and MP. I then rebooted, and re-selected both utilities. The
problems continue. I tried to download IE again, but received a message that
I already have a newer version. Finally, I downloaded Windows Media Player
10 from Microsoft. It installed without a problem, but the same error
message ('Internal Application Error') popped up when I tried to open the
program.

If anyone understands what the problem is, or has a solid solution, please
inform me. You can e-mail me at "crazy_eod(remove this text)@hotmail.com

Thank you!

First, be aware that what you did in Add/Remove Programs only removed and
restored access as only the shortcuts were removed and reinstalled.

Second, please take the Internet Explorer issue to the
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser newsgroup.
Please take the Media Player question to the
microsoft.public.multimedia.windows.mediaplayer newsgroup.
