I would think he would have needed to open up the box, and record
directly the info of the disk BEFORE he brought it in.

What is the price of a used 40 G drive vs. the price of a
used 80 G drive? I would think that any court would factor
in that the subject drive was a used one when brought into
the repair shop, and that the plaintiff does have a working
drive now.

Like $20?? Maybe even less.
