camera wizard

For the past year Camera Wizard has worked like a charm.
We've really enjoyed the ease of the plug and play
technology. We have a Sony Cybershot which uses memory
sticks. We just plug the sticks into a ScanDisk and the
Camera Wizard would pop up and ask us what we wanted to
do from there. Somehow we've lost Camera Wizard and have
to go to My Computer and manually copy the photos from
the drive of the ScanDisk (It still recognzes the USB).

Does anyone know what could have happened or how we can
get our Camera Wizard back?

Try the following and let us know if it worked or not.
This has worked for most, not all. It is specific to repairing the camera
wizard when you connect the camera via a USB cable and you read the memory
stick from the camera, In your case you are reading the memory stick from a
card reader, so a few changes are necessary as indicated below.

Try the following steps.

I. Connect your camera to your computer, power it on and make sure you have
pictures on your memory card. In your case, since you are using a card
reader, connect your card reader with a memory stick in it and make sure you
have pictures on your memory stick

II. Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press Enter
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This will take a few seconds to run.

III. Go to the following site:
http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff/downloads/autofix.exe

and download the autofix.exe file in one of your folder. Once done, double
click on this file. A window will open. Follow the directions on the screen.

Once done, turn off the camera and reboot. In your case, since you are not
using the camera, there is nothing to do, except to reboot after removing
the memory card from your card reader.

IV. Power the camera on, wait 10-15 seconds for XP to recognize it, you
should hear some beeping sound and the window should now open giving you the
option of downloading photos from the camera.

In your case, since you are not using the camera, insert the memory card in
the card reader and again wait for XP to recognize the memory card.

V. You may have to set the options for this window.

Click on My Computer, your camera (in your case your card reader) should be
listed there under Devices with
Removable Storage. Right click on it and click on Properties. In the opening
window, click on the Autoplay tab and under Select, scroll to Pictures to
select it. Select the button Prompt me...

I have a new Olypmus C-350 zoom and I have used it
previously on my computer running Windows XP Professional
but now it will not recognise camera if I try to install
device it will not let me I have tried the following fix
and when I run the autofix programme it still does not
recognise plug and play. I have a laptop running Windows
XP and computer at work and the camera still works fine
with them so cannot be lead or camera. I have tried
several different USB port locations on PC. When I first
turn camera on I see the egg timer for a split second
then nothing else happens. Can you help?

This is a very recent camera and it should work perfectly with XP.
You said you tried the autofix.exe but it did not work.
When you connect the camera (with a memory card in it and photos stored on
the card) you should be able to click on My Computer and when looking under
Devices with removable storage, you should see your camera listed there. (It
should also be listed on your laptop and on your computer at work).
Is your camera listed there?
When you tried the autofix, did it find your camera as a drive?
If the answer to the above is no, I would suspect the USB connection is not
working properly.
There is another "fix" for autoplay for camera at this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/faq/default.asp
Fourth item from the top of the page.
Again, this fix has worked for some, but not all.
