calibrating monitor

I want to calibrate my monitor for reviewing tne editing
digital photo images. The directions from Photoshop
Elements say to set desktop dispaly to neutral grays,
only, using RGB values of 128. How do I do that?

Thanks
Jeanne

I don't know about the PhotoShop instructions,
I guess it would depend on your video adapter
and how much user input it allows. If you right
click your desktop and go to...Properties /
Settings tab / Advanced button...you may find
a Color Management tab that allows you to select
a Color Profile. Also, you may have a Color
Corrections tab that allows the RGB channels
to be adjusted.

Anyway...maybe the info at the following site will be
useful:

Photoshop ships with a 'poor person's' calibration program, called Adobe
Gamma. I use it and it guides you through
the calibration steps.

I do not have Photoshop Elements so I don't know if Adobe Gamma comes with
that software package.

You need the Adobe Gamma utility. You may find the file
in C:/Program files/Comman Files/Adobe/Calibration/Adobe
Gamma Control Panal.
I am using Photoshop Elements 2 and Photoshop Album for
windows. It worked for me.
