I have an IBM T-40 Notebook and an IBM P-IV Desktop, both
running identical versions of Win XP Pro. The T-40 has a
DVD drive that can burn CD's and the Desktop has a CD-RW
(not a DVD drive). When I format a CD on one of the
drives (e.g., the DVD in the Notebook), I cannot add
files from the desktop to that CD. I get a message that
says "Windows does not recognize this CD-RW format..."
and tells me that to use that CD I need to erase it
first, i.e., reformat it.
It's hard to believe that I can't use the same CD for
files from both computers. I understand that the problem
is linked to the fact that one drive is a DVD and the
other just a CD-RW. Isn't there supposed to be a fix for
the problem, and if so, does anyone know how I can handle
this problem. I need the interchangeability badly, and
this is hanging me up.
Thanks.
