BSOD with VIA ESP5000

Hi,

I'm strugling with making a running build for my VIA ESP5000 thin client.
at first I was using the devices.pmq I got from TA. this always led me to
this Stop error: 0x0000007B (0xFCF2B640,0xC0000034,0x00000000....)
afterwards, I tried installing WinXPpro on the machine to try running the
TAP tool and it got stack during setup on the 0x000000ED stop error.
I even tried to download and use an SLX + PMQ files from the VIA website and
still got the 0x0000007B error.

I'm out of ideas now.

did anyone ever run into these errors and solved it?
did anyone ever use the VIA ESP board?

thanks,

Yaron Maor

Hi Slobodan,

I've read many of the threads you linked me to. but unfortunatly I'm in a
difficult situation here:
my hardware is based on a DiskOnChip HD with only 128MB and without a CD or
IDE HD connectors.
I can only boot from floppy or USB devices. therefore I can't install
WinXPpro on the machine.

I tried to boot from USB IDE HD to Dos and then run Winnt from a I386 folder
I copied to it. and then run Setup
to install winxpp to itself. this wierd setup gave me a 0x000000ED BSOD
after the text-phase of setup.

is there any other way I could scan the hardware devices?
is there a basic list of components for a minimum working build (besides the
minlogon macros that don't includes everything...)

thanks,

Yaron Maor

Yaron,

If you don't have IDE, SATA, SCSI controller, then this will be difficult to
boot XP or for that mater XPE from USB device, very difficult.
You can find my posting on this subject, but basically I gave up on normal
XPE boot from USB, to many unwanted features for me, and to many registry
hacking to make it work.

But you can do easily RAM disk boot from USB device( it can be removable of
fixed it is irrelevant). But you must still be able to run FBA on targeted
device.

There are some programs that can be used like TA.exe, and some utilities for
pci development that will give you hardware list.

What can I say to you,
Good luck,
Slobodan
