browser is blocking ActiveX controls in MS Press eBook

I'm using ie6 and I'm trying to run one of Microsoft Press' eBooks which
contains ActiveX controls. Those controls are compressed images of screen
shots in the application windows. When you click on these compressed
images, a browser window should pop up with a full size image.

However, when I click on the compressed image, IE6 only opens a blank
window, with a message in the title bar saying that IE has "restricted this
file from showing active content that could access your computer."

When I click on that message and select "Allow blocked content," the only
thing that happens is that the text "Loading ..." appears in the center of
the empty browser window, and remains there indefinitely. I've waited up to
half an hour and the window never loaded - it just remained blank and the
text "Loading . . . " remains on the screen.

In an effort to solve this problem, I temporarily did the following:

- selected Tools - Pop-up Blocker - Turn off Pop-up Blocker
- set the security of the Local Intranet zone in my browser to Low
- turned off the popup blocker in my Google toolbar,
- disabled Norton Internet Security
- disabled Norton Anti-Virus AutoProtect,

but to no avail.

Since I'm trying to run an eBook from Microsoft Press that I've loaded into
my C drive, I've got to believe there's a way to get the browser to allow
these controls to function as intended.

Can anyone tell me what I can do to view the full size images of these
screen captures?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Try going to internet options..advanced tab..scroll down to security and
check 'Allow active content to run in My Computer'.
