Broken Hyperlinks

FP 2002 Reports:

I'm verifying hyperlinks.
1. Using the automatic feature I don't want to stop the whole process using
Esc when a hyperlink hangs (fails to return in a timely manner). Is there
any way to skip a single hanging hyperlink to let the process continue?

2. I get a lot of links that are reported as broken that are not broken.
When the link is copied into a browser it works properly. Is there any way
to correct this state in either or both the automatic and manual operation
of the management tool?

No, but you can also select a group of link to check, thereby excluding the links that hang.

No, as it is based if the remote server allows domains to pinged. Basically do check those links in
the future.

Thanks for the reply Thomas:

Thomas, my site has been around several years now. You can take a look at
the site map to get a feel for it. Basically it is simply a small directory.
I want to focus on a few subjects (pc technology, digital communications,
and security). I am also using VB.net on other projects.

I tried a rebuild in CSS (w/o tables) and didn't like technology. I looked
at XML for what it is worth, also Java and JavaScript. Macromedia technology
is out of the question for me, as I'm already deep into Microsoft software.

I want to rebuild this site. I need a base technology, a methodology, and a
good toolbox. I probably have most of the resources, but putting them
together in a coherent package is a problem for me. Any recommendations on
best practices and management tools as they exist present day? A few good
links would be helpful.

Thanks Thomas,

D.

IMHO
You don't look for a technology (unless you just like technology for the sake of it)

You create a targeted goal or objective (for a need) for the site and then find the best technology to help you meet the goal

Rebuilding the site is not a targeted goal

Rebuilding the site to be what?
Faster, more SE friendly, Easier to navigate, Easier to maintain, DB driven and searchable or updateable from anywhere, Less FP
design time dependent, etc.
