Will this work on Vista?

Don't think so,
but never tried.
I think IE7 is default in Vista, not an add-on like XP

This is almost too funny.

No, you aren't funny at all...
It really bothers you that people would dare
criticize this crappy browser

It doesn't bother me at all when the critisims are valid. Most of the
complaints are not. They're mostly that it's not 'laid out' the same as
IE6....
People cant find their favourites button , they cant move this, that or the
other.... It's a NEW version of IE FFS!

And it isn't crappy. It IS a major improvement on IE6 both visually,
security wise, and in the way users can use it.
It took me less than a day to adapt to the layout, and how to use it. I have
had NO problems with any of the computers it has been installed on, and ALL
the IE6 customisations I have were automatically installed in IE7 when I
installed it and work exactly as they worked in IE6.
so many people find disgusting.

Far more people DONT find it disgusting. In fact most of us find it a LOT
better than IE6. But most of us dont feel the need to comment (or complain)
about that in a newsgroup.
Read
the posts, read the blogs, do a Google search, if I'm annoying then
so is everybody else saying the same thing.

EVERYONE????

Who appointed you as a spokesperson for EVERYONE?!

Never tried Vista or had to remove it. Above was an email reply from MS - I
aksed how to remove it - so there is no link. If add/remove programs doesnt
work, go to the contact area of MS and send them a question - they did
respond within 24hrs.

Glad to hear it's working for you Max but for those who prefer for
ergonomic reasons to move the Refresh button to the left or do a
million other things and can't it's not working.

No, what's not working is that they dont/cant adapt to a cosmetic change in
the software they're using. That's NOT a bug or fault in IE7. It's a
fault/preoblem with the person using the software.
Just because you
like the layout of IE7 doesn't mean everybody else does.

OTOH:
Just because you DONT like the layout of IE7 doesn't mean everyone/anyone
else wont like it.
It's called
choice and it is there in IE6, why not this latest one?

Because it's a NEW version of IE. You want the old IE6 look? Then keep using
IE6. It's THAT simple.
Moving the
Refresh button from the left side to the right and making it
uncustomizable is not innovation or "change", it's stupidity and
laziness on the part of the programmers.

No it isn't. It's the way they decided to make IE7.

It is stupidity on the part of users who complain IE7 is 'broke' because of
that, and stupid to complain about it in a newsgroup.

Most of the negative comments are about the browser's
complete lack of customizability, read them. It's obvious
Microsoft could care less because I too participated in the
beta process and there were plenty of complaints about it
then as well.

Dan scribbled:
We're not talking about one or two things Dick but a whole bunch that
can no longer be accomplished in IE7 that can be in IE6.

BS!
LIst what YOU cant do in IE7 that you can do in IE6.

As has been explained several times before there are better, alternative
browsers out there, I now use Firefox and it works beautifully. However,
many
people will be FORCED, not asked to use this dog at work for hours on end
so
if continuously pointing its flaws gets the browser nazis

Godwin's law invoked. Thread over.

Max you're too funny. I'll ask you the same as I did the other guy, if you're
happy with IE7 then what are doing here other than shilling for Microsoft?
Read the complaints on the board, many are FORCED not asked to use the
browser and are having ergonomic issues because they can't move anything
around. It's not rocket science Max.

Now it's time to get back to work, I hear Mr. Gates calling.

Hi Jeff. Nice to know someone notices lil'ole me! :) Although I'm a
she and not a he, LOL! My guess is that alot of the people around here
don't like to hear what I have to say most of the time, so they just
ignore me. It doesn't matter (to them) what else I have to contribute
to the group. But it's ok, I seem to beg controversy just about
everywhere I go.

J

Jeff

ahh,
Sorry Nina,
I shouldn't have said he, sorry girl.
lol
Anyhow, controversy, lol, I'm no stranger to people givin grief; don't
let em bother ya.
I may be outspoken on certain things(SPP mostly), but all in all I do try to
help.
When people refuse to see issues and blindly blather; as many in here are
wont to do; INCLUDING MVP's,
I just gotta say something. And those guys didn't even bother to acknowledge
your question.
Anyway, back to that issue.
I really don't think there is a way to get IE6 in Vista; but then again,
I've never tried.
I do know that in Vista; IE7 is the default broswer;whereas in XP the
default browser was IE6; and that putting in IE7 was an"upgrade".
LOL
That was able to be removed in XP;which in turn would default back to
IE6, but in Vista IE7 is the default.
For what it's worth,
I didn't ignore ya!! :)

Much appreciated!

The reason I'm asking this question is because others have managed to do
it with 2000 (see link below), so I'm sure there is a way it can be done
with XP and Vista.

That just might happen. I've currently got a Win98SE/2000/XP dual boot
setup
(Win98SE and 2000 share Root C:). Actually I'm quite happy with XP but am
willing to add in a Linux distribution on an available partition and start
getting used to it because I can tell by the direction Microsoft's going
in
Vista will not be for me.

You'll be moving to Vista... deny it all you want now. You are still going
to use it.
