Boycott IE7

IE 7 has so many issues, it's actually might spur people to switch to
alternatives anyway. I discover more functionality bugs everyday. The
problem is that FF 2 isn't without its bug set either. I wish they
perfected it and just released a 1.5 patch in the interim, keeping both
available for a while.

FF2 will go the same route as IE7.. the authors are just waiting to see how
IE7 works out.. I notice that none too many mention FF2, probably because it
is not working too well presently, has 'issues'.. amazing considering that
it is not an MS product, eh...

I use both IE7 and FF2 to test my sites. I prefer IE7 to FF2.

Most of the negative comments are about the browser's complete lack of
customizability, read them. It's obvious Microsoft could care less

So if it's obvious that Microsoft cares, why are you complaining?

Glad to hear it's working for you Max but for those who prefer for ergonomic
reasons to move the Refresh button to the left or do a million other things
and can't it's not working. Just because you like the layout of IE7 doesn't
mean everybody else does. It's called choice and it is there in IE6, why not
this latest one? Moving the Refresh button from the left side to the right
and making it uncustomizable is not innovation or "change", it's stupidity
and laziness on the part of the programmers.

As has been explained several times before there are better, alternative
browsers out there, I now use Firefox and it works beautifully. However, many
people will be FORCED, not asked to use this dog at work for hours on end so
if continuously pointing its flaws gets the browser nazis on the Microsoft
"team" to stop forcing their unwanted "change" on everyone else then I expect
many will keep doing it.

FF2 works like a charm here, don't know what problems you're having. If the
developers are misguided enough however to make their layout similar to IE7
it won't matter because as open source software extensions will be quickly
developed to revert back to the way users want it if they choose.

Strange way to think.

Based upon your comment, if a person didn't like the exit box (X box) in the
upper right of the window they would consider the operating system, or the
program, as broken.

I don't like the fact that you can't place the address bar on the top line
in Firefox (to mimic Internet Explorer). Therefore, Firefox is broken!

That's the way others designed it. You use it or you don't.

We're not talking about one or two things Dick but a whole bunch that can no
longer be accomplished in IE7 that can be in IE6. You call that a step
forward? Your idea of "change" appears to be one that takes away
functionality and imposes what you want. No thanks. I don't agree with
everything in Firefox either but at least I can change most of it at will or
install an extension that does what I want. There's nothing strange about
wanting to be treated like an adult. Read the comments on this board, most of
them are in agreement.

Dick informed us:

"That's the way others designed it. You use it or you don't. "

Please re-read other posts, many people will not voluntarily have a choice
to use the Microsoft dog brought to us live from the browser nazis, they will
be FORCED to at their place of employment. It was so nice of the brownshirts
to impose their changes on everyone else.

So they can use it or not also. It is their choice. You can choose, right?

Not if their employers make them use it. As I'm sure I don't have to tell you
many companies try to implement a uniform policy, either all employees will
use IE7, IE6, or Firefox.

All I can say to your comment is "Oh Well"!

I had to use software packages that I didn't like because the company was
too cheap to buy a good CAD program. Guess what? I learned to cope with it
after my boss told *ME*, "Oh Well".

Dear all,

Enough is enough!!

In addition to the usability issues of the browser, IE 7 soon will provide
misleading and false information about smaller sites that don't have EV SSL
certificate (which is expensive and currently available only for large
corporations) installed as a possible "phishing" site.

It has done it again - using a sound reason for stupid moves, and this time,
it will put thousands and thousands of small businesses out of business.

If your site does not have EV SSL certificate installed, IE could give false
and misleading information to your visitors that you site is NOT a
legitimate site.

I will now remove IE 7 from all of my systems and officially boycott IE 7
including the Vista which is using IE 7!!
I am a computer user of the home computer variety, probably the most numerous
practiononers of the
push buttom arts. while we are the largest group we are also, the most
curious group we read all we can about what is new, good, bad, or
indifferent. we do not have expertise to change browsers, etc. as those of
you who "gurus". We must use the systems usually very much unchange from
first installation . If these computer programing and design companies are so
innovative and benevolent, why aren't more transparent in their dealings with
the public. design systems for the majority ,not the
geek and squeeks of the computing world.
Stop complaining and in fighting find a complaint system that allows as many
as possible to participate, but make the complaints genuine and maybe they
will listen rather than a few "insiders"

Chill out, dude.

Are YOU forced to use IE7 at your place of business? If not, why are you
championing a cause not your own?

And if you ARE forced to use IE7 at your place of business and this
imposition causes you such grief, then quit your job and start selling Earth
Shoes.

Since you're now using Firefox, exactly what dog do you have in this fight?

Lol the Microsoft shilling that goes on is almost surrealistic and those that
do it I almost automatically assume are Microsoft employees. It may only be a
browser but many livelihoods depend on a good one. Contrary to popular
thought IE is not free, it comes preloaded with the OS that costs hundreds
and is actually a part of it. So that begs this question, if you're happy
with IE7 then why are you here, what's your dog in this fight?

R

Richard Urban

Yep. It's as annoying as what you do!

This is almost too funny. It really bothers you that people would dare
criticize this crappy browser so many people find disgusting. Read the posts,
read the blogs, do a Google search, if I'm annoying then so is everybody else
saying the same thing.

Hey same to you. I've got to move along anyway, Microsoft will be releasing
another 20 patches today no doubt to plug their security holes so might as
well take care of that.
