Boycott IE7

Dear all,

Enough is enough!!

http://news.com.com/With+IE+7,+gree...s/2100-1029-6134647.html?part=dht&tag=nl.e703

In addition to the usability issues of the browser, IE 7 soon will provide
misleading and false information about smaller sites that don't have EV SSL
certificate (which is expensive and currently available only for large
corporations) installed as a possible "phishing" site.

It has done it again - using a sound reason for stupid moves, and this time,
it will put thousands and thousands of small businesses out of business.

If your site does not have EV SSL certificate installed, IE could give false
and misleading information to your visitors that you site is NOT a
legitimate site.

I will now remove IE 7 from all of my systems and officially boycott IE 7
including the Vista which is using IE 7!!

come on - when microsoft is at ease with security things, everybody is
blaming it - when it is not, reaction is the same one - I think this is a
good move, and anybody can use whatever relaxed software s/he wants

You can boycott what you will. There will be hundreds of millions using
Vista within 2-3 years. And IE7 will become mandatory for Windows XP also.

Then fix this crummy %$@^%#^%%$ software!!!!! Just look at the IE7 responses!
Is MS blind? What part do you not understand Mr. Urban? And these responses
are from knowledgable users - not the millions who will not know what to do
with this dog. I will urge all I know to stay with IE6 until MS wakes up. I
have never seen this level of negative response before.

Maybe and maybe not but I won't be one of them either way. Why should I run
out and spend
hundreds of dollars for more RAM, a new video card, and the OS itself just
to get something that'll probably be nothing more than Windows ME with DRM?
When XP support runs out it's Linux with Firefox for me.

Yes! I do not like it Sam I Am! I do not like the tabs here or there! I do
not like them anywhere!

its SLOW, and we ALREADY HAD tabs at the bottom to switch between sites! adn
I lost my already customized top tool bar!

how do we switch it back!!??

Congratulations on joining the thousands who are ditching this turkey.

Since you cross posted this to the Vista newsgroup, I will inform
you where you are wrong and it doesn't involve IE7. Mr. Urban is a MVP
posting in the Vista general newsgroup, it's unknown how much he monitors
the internetexplorer newsgroup if at all. IE7 is part of Vista there is no
IE6 for Vista. I've used IE7 with Vista through all of the CPP releases
without problems, also I've run the IE7 beta releases and final release with
Windows x64 without problems. If you're having a problem in Windows 2000 or
XP, the most common problem is an incompatible plug-in that was saved in
IE6.

Most of the negative comments are about the browser's complete lack of
customizability, read them. It's obvious Microsoft could care less because I
too participated in the beta process and there were plenty of complaints
about it then as well.

Then why wait, why not jump on Linux now?

Dan:
I agree that customizability is lacking. I've added the needed tabs
to the tool bars and customization isn't on the front burner for me. Changes
are constant every time a program or software is updated, usually annually,
everything is rearranged and I'm lost for a week until I get used to it. If
it weren't for change things would get boring.

That just might happen. I've currently got a Win98SE/2000/XP dual boot setup
(Win98SE and 2000 share Root C:). Actually I'm quite happy with XP but am
willing to add in a Linux distribution on an available partition and start
getting used to it because I can tell by the direction Microsoft's going in
Vista will not be for me.

I 'ditched' IE years ago. There are, simply, better browsers. If I
were forced to use IE it would be IE6. I'll install Vista, and it's
iteration of IE, and give it a try. If that IE does not compete with
other browsers why would I want to use it - especially when I have choices?

It works fine for me and has from the day I installed it.
All the customisations I had in IE6 were transfered over to IE7 as part of
it's install and are exactly the same as I had them set up in IE6, and work
exactly as they should do.

Why are YOU having problems?

IE7 works fine for me too, and all others attached to my home network..
clients of mine are happy with it, most of whom have no idea how to
customise anything anyway and leave every thing as it after initial
install.. I would imagine that accounts for the majority of home users..

FF2 will go the same route as IE7.. the authors are just waiting to see how
IE7 works out.. I notice that none too many mention FF2, probably because it
is not working too well presently, has 'issues'.. amazing considering that
it is not an MS product, eh...

I have to say that I use both IE7 and FF2 and have no problems with
either.....

Hi
Just as a matter of interest, what issues are you facing with FF2? I am
facing some issues too. Was wondering if I'm in the minority. I really
hope they fix it in the next release, since that's my primary browser and I
can't imagine managing without some of the extensions and features that have
become second nature to me.
