bogging down

If I'm online for about an hour or so, my computer starts
to bog down. If I shut down and restart everything works
fine again.
This happens regardless of the number of applications I
have open. It doesn't happen if I'm not on the internet.
When the computer is bogged down, and I press ctrl-alt-
del, I get the message: "Windows Application Error: The
application failed to initialize properly (0xC0000017).
Click OK to terminate the application.
Any ideas?

Check your Run keys in the registry to make sure that
you're not loading anything that shouldn't be loading.
It seems to like there's an application that is trying to
load, and failing. You need to figure out which
application it is, and keep it from loading.

David,

That was it. You the man!
Yahoo pager and messenger were both in there for no
apparent reason - I don't use them. When I deleted them
from the registry the problem was solved.
What a relief to not have to reboot every hour!
