blurry- mosaic like movies very bad quality

I use windows movie maker (well I dont now not cos I fear
for the outcome of the video quality if I saved and
edited my movies in wmm. I have windows xp os, use dv-avi
format, but in my ignorance of the computer world I used
my original copies of the movies and changed them into
different formats like wmv, avi so I could find a better
quality for the movies. Now, I have no choice but to keep
them as they are, very bad quality, very blurry and
little squares running across the screen so u can barely
see whats on the movie clips. Ive tried everything I
could to change them back as they appear on my dv-camera
to no luck. Please please I hope there is some1 out there
who has the same experience and knows what to do. I dont
know why or how it happened, but I long to be able to
watch the movies clearly.
Also when previewing a clip, why sometimes did the clip
shrink smaller that the default size of the preview clip?

every time you re-encode video you degrade the quality - you might want to
capture it in AVI and start again - then go to WMV for your final output
unless you plan to go back to tape

Hi there,

I really do think that you should read the Help File that comes with Movie
Maker, in particular the part about saving the resultant video in the
different sizes/formats.

It is my understanding that only those parts of the video that have in some
way been altered, like a transition or an effect, are actually rendered,
the rest is simply copied across (if the size/format remains unchained) You
must have done an awfully large amount of editing to get your video into
the state you describe.

As regards keeping them as they are...why don't you simply capture them
from your camera again? But before you do, please have a good read of the
help system in Movie Maker, it really does help to read the book.
