blue screen

I run Win XP home and keep getting dreaded blue screen
with the error message "unknown hard STOP c0000007b, the
computer has to be switched off on the wall and
restarted, is this a faulty memory?

Hi,

Could be a number of things. If you want to check the memory, there are free
programs here:

http://www.simmtester.com/page/products/doc/download.asp
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

It could also be faulty hardware or a failing hard drive - you might want to
try a drive diagsnotic tool. These are generally available for free from the
seb site of the drive manufacturer. Most run from a bootable floppy and can
give you a status on the drive.
