Blue Screen Stop After Installing HP DVD Writer Software

I am looking for help in resolving a blue screen stop
error I can't figure out. I have an AMD Athlon 2500 box,
with primary HD set up using GigaRaid (two 120GB drives
operating as one), a CD Burner and a DVD ROM drives on one
IDE cable, and a 120GB HD (in a removable rack) and a just-
installed HP DVD530i writer on the other IDE cable. HP's
instructions were to load their software before physically
installing the new DVD writer, as this would generate
recommended jumper settings, etc. An earlier version of
PowerDVD was detected, and its removal was required before
the HP software installation could be completed. I
complied by removing the PowerDVD application. Then I
installed the new drive. In Safe mode, I can see that all
4 drives on the IDE cables are recognized correctly, and
have drive letters assigned.

I cannot now start Win2000 (fully updated from Windows
Update with the Sep 14 releases). I can start the OS in
Safe mode, but cannot start normally without getting the
following blue screen:

STOP: 0x0000001E
(0xC0000005,0xEB6A8E01,0x0000001,0x00000014)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Address EB6A8E01 base at EB6A8000, DateStamp 4087e8a6 -
PxHelp20.sys

I have looked up various MicroSoft Knowledge Base articles
related to this type of Stop error, but there is nothing
specific about the PxHelp20.sys file mentioned in the Stop
error message. There is mention of hotfixes but I have no
idea about how to access these things. When starting in
Safe mode, my system indicates the OS is Windows 2000
Build 2195 : Service Pack 4Free.

Can anyone help?

Pxhelp20.sys is a driver used by the HP (Veritas) burning software. You
might be able to remove the software in safe mode, then try reinstalling it.
If all else fails you could rename the driver to put it out of commission
until you sort it out. You should be able to find it in the
system32\drivers folder.

Have a look at this thread:

http://forums.veritas.com/discussions/thread.jspa?messageID=4333988&tstart=0

It may shed some light on the situation.
