compression makes the files use smaller disk space though. but you can
always uncompress the drive or just specific files and folders.
right click on drive icon > properties > under the general tab, check or
uncheck compress drive...
or...
right click on folder icon of choice > properties > general tab > advanced
button > check or uncheck compress contents...
