blank screen in Windows XP

my son was trying to play a game on the computer. It
required him to change the resolution on the screen. The
screen went blank (black). can't see anything now. I
rebooted. When I reboot, I can see the Windows XP logo
come up, but then the screen goes blank.

How can I recover the screen or change the resolution
again. Help Help

Go into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping F8 as the computer is starting
up. Once in Safe Mode, go to the Display applet in Control Panel and
set the display to use Standard VGA mode. Then reboot into regular
Windows and adjust your display back to what it should be. It sounds
like your son either set the screen resolution too high and the monitor
can't handle it or the game messed up your display settings.
