Blank DVD Recognition

Chaps,

I have recently bought a LG GSA-4160B CD-DVD burner/re-writer. Although I am
able to successfully read both CD’s & DVD’s I am only able to burn CD’s. Upon
entering a blank DVD the drive light flashes for around 10 mins. Selecting
the blank disk in explorer or My Computer has the same effect. At no time can
I access a blank DVD.

Using Single Sided TDK DVD-R 3.95GB. Nero and/or Power Producer.

Yup, got a box of six, tried them all.

Get normal 4.7GB disks and try them. Cheers.

Try checking the DVD drive's manufacturer website for 1) recommended brands
and types of DVD blanks, and 2) firmware updates for the drive that may add
new brands and types it will recognize.

Try checking at http://www.videohelp.com/ for your drive and other users
experiences with the best media; they have a large info base. Make sure to
get the media type right, +r, -r, and the same speed that is listed as
compatible.

I'm not familiar with the brand, but some can be pretty picky, others will
take most everything. When you put one in, and the light quits flashing
within a few seconds, you've probably found a compatible disc.
