Beta 1 v Beta2

Having had the "Looping" problems with Beta2 and after trying all the
solutions that I could find in this and other groups to resolve the
difficulties I have uninstalled it and gone back to Beta1.

Beta 1 welcomed me back like an old friend ! It had kept details of all it's
past history and detections etc. It was almost like it had been waiting for
me to come back home.

I looked at the definitions and found they had been automatically updated to
5815 the 10th March. Now that made a pleasant change from Beta2.

A scan was suggested so I ran the fullest and deepest on offer. This took 11
minutes and a few seconds to run. When running a deep scan with Beta 2 it
used to take 45 minutes or so to complete. The slowest part of the Beta 2
scan, where it seem to virtually stall, was when it examined JPG files. There
it appeared to lovingly examine my photos pixel by pixel !

I had posted some time ago about the slowness of Beta2 compared with Beta1
but never saw any comment about this.

I was having a "senior" moment when comparing the Beta 1 v Beta 2 timings.
The correct times are Beta 1,11 minutes. Beta 2, 75 minutes. The 45 minutes
was the time it took to finish with the My Documents folder. Originally
posted on Announce on 18th February titled Slow but Sure.

In agreement with you as far as beta 1 is concerned was far better !
.....never the less on both my machines I find the quick scan time is halved
using beta 2, whilst the full scan has doubled in time ! presuming the time
is in relation to the processor both of my machines have responded to the
same time scale factor ! and now with beta 2 it seriously slows the the
machine ! where as before I could let it scan whilst still working !

question about 10 posts below yours ("defender beta 2 vs original...")
relative to this question.

Opened Beta 1 by double clicking the icon in the info.bar and then hovering
over Spyware definitions. Result 10th March 2006 at 9.44.44 version 5815.
