Microsoft's real comparison between BETA1 AND BETA2

MS has "screwed" us but wrongly labeling this version BETA2 and taking away
BETA1 so we cannot go back!! What did the BETA1 version of Windows Defender
look like -- it was not MSA BETA1. Though between BETA version it was small
increments not all new software.

MS comparison TABLE should be

MSA BETA1 Windows
Defender Beta2

============================================

Is WD an Improvement?
Depends - Yes if you hate the task icon and want to use task scheduler
and a big plus is the XP users get to help debug a program targeted for the
VISTA OS

No - if you want a reliable anti-spyware program with few bugs that
works. I have seen the same update, scan, and error problems for weeks
without any help from Microsoft.

In fact, Microsoft is encouraging customer to install this buggy software
(main item on their web page). WHY? Of course, to get more unhappy
customers and debug the next OS system? If you know the software has
problems stop distributing it until you have the fixes.

Beside 5% of the memory for one program is too much. I know Vista is
going to be targeted for machines with 1GB and greater so the size will not
mean much later but I bet many customers are still running 512MB machines.

At this rate by the time Microsoft has the problems fixed WD will always be
tainted.

I see by this site more and more people switching. Since MS did not allow
you to go back to BETA1 and wait, users have a choice of a buggy program or
non-working program, no protection, or switching to another company's
software.

Old Proverb for MICROSOFT to learn:
You are lucky if a happy customer tells one person about their experience
but you can guarantee that an unhappy customer will tell as many people as
possible about their experience.

Think you have hit the nail on its head ! take a look back a couple of pages
at post : - A step Backwards - BETA1 for Defender instead of BETA2 for MSA..
and the reply from MS ! asking us to give it a chance !

I am in the same boat and agree with the below statment. Infact windows
defender did not defend me vs an infection of spyware that I inadvertantly
ran on my pc. Defemder was clunky, and hard to use It never properly detected
the infestation nor fix it. The program did find it, however, but could not
clean it properly. I was left with out a firewall and even after the
malicious software was removed by Spybot S&D 1.4 the firewall would not turn
back on. And Defender said everything was running "normally"! I'm sorry MS,
but you have taken steps backward in the development cycle here. I'd say this
is a bit of an egg on face situtaiton. Lastly, I would like to see in the
"History" area of Defender setup so that I can "Reclassify" anything that was
marked as "OK". Defender needs to be me a bit more aggressive.

BTW, I had to reinstall my OS plus all of my dev software sql, .NET Dev, etc
which takes on average 3 hours to get everything installed and back to
production.

You yourself have referred to beta1 and beta2. If you can not afford to
reload your operating system from scratch you shouldn't even be using beta
software. Beta software is for someone who is willing to spend the necessary
time with the program and help develop the program by finding and submitting
problems found (bugs). If you don't want to do this, purchase a fully
developed and implemented retail program of your choice.

Richard,

What a piss poor reply. I understand that Beta software can crash things but
if you want to see people give up on Microsoft then go right on and KNOCK on
people who are willing to tell you things about what is happening in the real
world. If you want to encourage people to use and submit valuable information
about how the Beta software is performing the last thing you wan to do is
respond like that.

Next time reply with a "I am sorry to hear that." and a "We will use this
information to help with the creation of a stable product." and finally
"Because of your current problems with the Beta software let me recommend a
temporary solution until we get the issues resolved."

Until you can respond with the proper kind of customer service necessary to
keep the “Customer†happy I recommend you keep your comments to yourself.

Right on Bob!

I admit that Bata can cause problems but just because some one indicates
that he had to reinstall and it took him 3+ hours doesn’t mean he wasn't
willing to! he installed it didn't he?

I suggest that you consider the input as what it is, input! And thank them
for giving it to you instead of just keeping it to him self.
