Use the import/export option in IE under the file selection on the far left.
Export favorites. It will by default save as "bookmark.htm" file to the
location of your choice.
For some very, very, very long titled websites, Windows explorer may balk
when doing a copy to a different location of the favorites folder.

Actually there are several ways to backup favorites. Probably the easiest,
is to simply do an Export to a file called Bookmark.Htm. While IE is open
just click File and then the Export/Import sub-option. The Wizard will take
you through the appropriate choices (What & Where). Once the export is
complete you can import to another PC/Profile or browser.

Also, you can just copy the Favorites folder found in your Documents and
Settings profile tree. (Explorer view must be set for Hidden/System files)
This can take longer than an Export if the URL count is high.
