"Away in Holidays"-autoreply & Forward mail button

HI MS Exchange has a function for people in holidays to forward the incoming
mails to collegues with an automatic response.

I wish such in Outlook too, instead of complex rules that usual people can't
handle. I can... hehe

Truly yours

What's so complex about an auto reply rule?

Exchange operates differently because it's the server that is performing the out-of-office function. Perhaps your own mail server has a similar feature that you can invoke from its web sitte? Ask your mail provider.

Outlook is just a mail client, and what you're talking about requires a
server ...or rules.

If you don't connect to an Exchange server, there is no automatic out of
office autoreply. You'd have to spoof it with rules, and note that this
means leaving Outlook open, and connected to the internet, for the duration
of your absence.

See http://www.slipstick.com/rules/index.htm for help.

Also see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=196718 - it explains how to set
up a template so that autoreply fires only once per sender (as Out of Office
does) to avoid mail loops.

"instead of complex rules"
What do you think is too complex about it now?

Apply this rule after the message arrives
reply using a "specific template"
and forward it to "people or distribution list"

Sounds pretty straight forward to me.

That MSKB doesn't exist? :-S

The client side reply rule will only reply once to each sender during an
Outlook session as well.
