Put them in any folder. Then update manually. (Detailed instructions snipped.)

Thanks very much. This morning AVG finally did update in the usual
way. I have saved your instructions for manual updating, should the
problem recur.

This problem still exists as of today ( 2005 02 02)
I've started posting updates over in
ALT.BINARIES.WAREZ.IBM-PC
I can't post the updates here because this newsgroup doesn't allow
binary attachments.
I posted a message to this effect on the AVG Free-Forum but apparently
it wasn't cleared for posting.

You can do a "manual" update IF you can get through the servers to the
update file.

I've provided links in my messages to the correct AVG pages, both the
Forum and the Update.

Same problem, AVG 7.x, Central Europe, 4 pm (about 3 pm GMT). No go.

(checks again)

heh, suddenly, there is a "priority update", too. They must have
*problems*, if they are suddenly adding something like this, don't they?

But even if I only use that one (virus definition update), I get a
"Server returned error state!"

There is a work-around. Add the following to your hosts file:

193.86.103.19 guru.grisoft.com

This will allow you to get updates off another server that is not
overloaded.

Try again. It's working today (3/2/05). Updated immediately and very
quickly (29 secs).
