Avast or AntiVir?

Which is better in terms of operation, detecting, updates, ease of use and
e-mail scanning - Avast or AntiVir from 'free-av.com'?? Anyone here used
both of these?

Looking for something to replace AVG 7 with, to get back to an easy working
free AV software. Something that picks up a virus in an e-mail attachment
before you open it would be nice! (i.e. like AVG 6 did).

Also looking for something that will work with:

1. Athlon 2000XP, 256MB, Windows XP Pro SP2; and
2. Pentium 233MMX, 256MB,Windows 98SE (yes, there are some of these still
in use!)

TIA

Can't say anything for AntiVir, but I can imagine that anything would
work more smoothly than avast! I seldom ever have to do anything.
Nice user interface/messages, auomatic updates work great, e-mail
scanner works great. I used McAfee before and would never go back.

Avast! can do that. It acts as a small SMTP/POP3 server and all mail
filters through it, and infected attachments can be automaticly
removed if you like (both on incoming and outgoing mail).

I am using Avast on XP SP2,2000,ME and 98SE with no problems.
If I were you I would put another 256 in the XP(you'll be happier).
