In both of these tests, it shows that antivir is better

i wana keep avast because i like it, so what i tried to do was have
avast on for real time protection and have antivir only on for
on-demand scanning....

but it doesn't work. when i install antivir without the active guard
and then restarted my pc my avast said that it disabled a number of
components in real time protection because of antivir

how to i have avast on real time and antivir on on demand without
comprising avast's real time components

I love these tests, these show Avast ahead of AVG. Other posts have
shown other way round.
I use Avast together with good backup procedures and computing habits.

yep, i switched as well. Now i can see that avast did slow down my PC,
especially on start-up. Also Antivir has got schedule scanning and
updating and lastly its scanning engine is rated approximately 94%
whereas avast is only about 86%

Same observation. I notice the report times seem to be 2 hours ahead of
my computer time (US East Coast Daylight Savings). This is true even for
a local scan.

| whats the difference between the paid and free version?

Prevention !

Use of the free version is to help clean up after the fact. Use of the full version helps
to protect from being infected with malware in the first place.
