Automatic Updates

I have Automatic Updates turned off. I have UNchecked the box that states
"Alert me if my computer might be at risk because of my automatic updates
settings."
Each day I first boot (and sometimes other bootings) I still get that
balloon telling me
my machine might be at risk. And that box I UNchecked is now CHECKED again.
How do I keep that balloon from popping up?

Earl, go to Start>Run type: msconfig click Ok and select Startup
Tab. Look for an entry that mentions
Windows Updates. If there uncheck click Apply , Ok.

The only thing in msconfig|startup was c:\windows\system32\ctfmon.exe
which I uncheck. Nothing else in msconfig checked. I Applied, restarted,
and that balloon popped up.

Go To Control Panel and Security Centre
On the Left Hand Side in the Resources Pane is "Change the way Security
Centre Alerts me"
Click that message
Untick the Automatic Updates box and then close all windows
The nagging message will go away next time you re-boot
