Auto Hide TaskBar

Richard Farthing

Hi Everyone

This subject has been spoken about before, but I want to get to the
bottom of it.

I want modify my TaskBar properties, and set "Auto Hide", this is a
registry setting within a key called "StuckRects2".

But Microsoft holds any changes for the next logon, I need these
changes to be processed on the current logged on session.

There must be a API that can set this ?

Anyone know.

Thanks

Rich

One trick is to perform the changes prior during logon but prior to 'Explorer.exe' starting. This can be done using the USERINIT key in the registry..
Details of this are documented here courtesy of Jeff Durbin... http://www.freelists.org/archives/thin/02-2003/msg00132.htm

Another option is to make changes, then Kill the Explorer process and restart it. This is very crude and not recommended, but it works

Cheers
