Audio Problems

I am praying that somebody is able to help me
(Jonathan?). I am attempting to use MSN Messenger 6.1 to
communicate via audio to my father in law. I am unable to
hear him, while he hears me fine. I have read many of
the previous threads and have done this so far...Re-
installed 6.1, turned off Mcafee Firewall and in Interent
Connections, gone through the audio wizard, unchecked Qos
Packet Scheduler. We both use a dial-up connection
averaging 49kbps. I have XP Home, he has XP Pro. Where
does this problem lie, mine or his computer?

I also had my father in law do the above. One problem he
had, was that he was unbale to uncheck the Qos. We unded
up going through the gpedit and set the bandwidth to 0.

I read something about checking and re-installing the
rtcdll.dll version. I am not quite sure how to do this.
Is it worth a try, and if so I would appreciate it if
somebody can walk me through it. It have a 1 month old
Dell and customer service has been a joke! Many hours
spent on the phone with no resolve. Please Help !!
